Royale redemption links: setup and troubleshooting

What's covered in this article:

  • First, make sure Transit is installed on your mobile device and that you have a strong internet connection.
  • Next, open your email client and tap the link sent by a Transit team member.
    • On iOS, the link should automatically open Transit and redeem free Royale. (If you have Transit UAT installed, please select the production version of Transit when prompted).
    • On Android, tap Transit when prompted - opening the link with your web browser will not work.

⚠️ Important: Microsoft Outlook and Proton Mail don’t support redemption links for Royale. See the next section for what to do.

This can happen when using an unsupported email client, like Microsoft Outlook and Proton Mail. Here’s what you can try instead:

  • Open the link using an alternative email client (Mail, Gmail, Samsung Email, etc).
  • Or: copy and paste the link into Notes (iOS), Google Docs, or any word processing app on your device. Then tap the link again.

💁 Be careful not to copy and paste the link into a web browser (like Safari, Google Chrome, or Firefox) — unfortunately, it won’t work!

This can happen if Transit is improperly configured in your operating system’s settings. Here’s how to check:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Transit > Open by default. Then make sure Transit has permission to open links in the app and try again.

📝 Note: depending on your particular Android based operating system, the above steps may vary somewhat.

Ah shoot! If you tap the link after its expiration date (depends, but usually around 1 month), you’ll get this error. Send us an email and we’ll generate a new link.

I’m getting a connection error

First, check your internet connection and try again. If everything seems fine, we probably made a mistake while configuring the link (sorry about that!). Send us an email and we’ll get back to you with a new link as soon as possible.
